Well what a week we have had, the club is still up for sale, and the owner has asked people to email in their offers. We have no manager and have no idea what players are staying, who is going and what we will have to spend to replace them.
Looks like we are the laughing stock of the football world. The Mackems are rolling on the floor laughing at the continuing humiliation of this once great club.
If you travel on the A184 you might notice the lovely signs they have put up, showing how much fun they are having at our expense. They have erected two signs near the Testos Roundabout, one on the road to Newcastle saying
“Sid James Park – The Biggest Stadium in the Fizzy Pop League”
And another on the road to Sunderland saying
“The Stadium of Light the North East’s ONLY Premier League Stadium.”
How did it ever come to this. On relegation day I honestly believed that we could sink no lower, how wrong I was.
Here we are barely 20 days till the players return to training after their holidays and we still don’t have an owner or manager and the way things are looking, the situation will not be rectified by then.
I had hoped that Ashley had learned from his mistakes and would bring back Chris Mort to replace the inept Derek Llambias, but no instead we are left with him rubbishing potential buyers, and dragging out Alan Shearers contract negotiations for weeks.
We have very little time to get ready for the new season, which kicks off on 8th August, not long in the grand scheme of things. If the barrowboys running our beloved club don’t get things in order now, then our dream of a return to the Premiership in just one season is looking just a touch out of reach.
Here is praying for a miracle.
